Race 5, Fern Bay Deja-Vu, division 1

All division’s racers arrived in time, except ocr.BiKES, who joined just before qualification start.

Qualification went smooth without any incidents, and first trio looked like ocr.BiKES, aero.Palich and RRT.smith.

Race promised to be interesting, as GTT drivers can easilly overtake skidding FXO’s at start. And that what we saw, ocr.RudiTurbo and aero.von_Neumann without any stress gained one position each at first 50 meters of race distance. ocr.RudiTurbo, though, made mistake right in 1st chicane’s exit and dropped back to 5th place.

At first four places for two laps were some quite interesting fights, with RRT.smith holding firmly to aero.VonNeumann rear bumper, who, in his part, were pretty close to aero.Palich. Even ocr.BiKES, whom we wasnt going to see till finish, makes a couple of mistakes, what allows aero.Palich to pass him, but not for long, as at the end of the next lap ocr.BiKES regains lead in last U-turn, in very professional way, I must mention. In the same, 2nd lap, RRT.smith locks brakes at last chicane’s enter and flips with gently help of some tyres, carefully placed there by Eric’s evil genious. And as a consequence of his flying lessons, RRT.smith drops to the last place.

Rest of overtaking maneuvers of the race were taken by RRT.smith, as he were progressively gaining positions in the grid. In cases of aero.von_Neumann and ocr.RudiTurbo there could be some interesting battles, but they both magically made mistakes when RRT.smith just approached them, so no signs of fight were spotted.

This race must has been cursed, as [dSRC].nazzard gained one position in the same way, right after something terrible happened to aero.von_Neumann.

So, first three places at the finish were taken by ocr.BiKES, aero.Palich and RRT.smith. All congratulations are going to them.

Racer’s comments:

RRT.smith:
Race start was messed, and due to this first laps were terrific. It was quite hard to hold close to aero.von_Neumann without attempting to hit him :) Tension was blown at the end of 2nd lap, when I nicely flipped. At this point hopes for 2nd place vanished and I turned hotlap mode on and became completely calm, what definitely helped.

[dSRC]hackerx:
I was clearly slowest in 1st division, was driving in hotlap mode not seeing other racers much, and looks like I could have much more fun in 2nd div, very likely winning both quali and race, not to mention fastest lap... Anyway, in race only hope to get away from last place was, when von_Neumann made quite bad mistakes on lap 16, and gap between us was a bit over 3 seconds then. If I only hadn’t made a mistake myself on lap 6 where I lost about 5 seconds...

ocr|Bikes:
During the freepractise i was in Budapest, stuck in a huge traffic jam, ive tried some tricks, but nothing really helped :). I was lucky to get home when the qualify started, got on quickly my headset and joined. When i saw the stats after 2 laps i just wanted a 1,40, xx so i could pit, online you can rush trough the last chicane quite fast so i could do it of a crappy 2nd r r r split. Then i watched Rudi’s qualify, it was big fun to tell you :D

[dSRC]nazzard:
I did the worst FXO start in history but it didn’t took that long to get back to the already battling field again. During the race I tried to do 1:44.xx (slow) times on a regular basis and it worked. I didn’t lose sight of aero.von_Neumann but had no chance to get near enough for an attack. But: after some laps I was surprised to see him on his roof in the chicane and took his position. He was able to regain the lost time quickly and there was only a 2 seconds gap between us. But: the next gap showed 20 seconds again, so another mistake assured my 5th place. ocr.RudiTurbo did his well-known "dance" in the last lap so I got very close at the finis-line, but he timed it right to let me behind :) @RRT.VOLK: The team ranking seems ok to me :P (won’t last that long i guess :)

aero|Palich:
Before this championship I never raced FXO, so it was my first race with it. Sure i didn’t expect to beat so experienced FXO driver as ocr|Bikes. On lap 2 ocr|Bikes made a mistake and I took the lead but very soon he approached me again and I decided to let him go ahead. Anyway I couldn’t keep up with his pressure for the next 15 laps and if I tryed I’d only made worse my lap times. Basicaly I drove stable enough all laps and errors of RRT.smith, ocr|RudiTurbo and aero|VonNeumann allowed me to hold my second position until finish line.

Race 5, Fern Bay Deja-Vu, division 2

Sad to say this. But half of a grid just didn’t showed up at the event. Still, the racers had pretty close battle in the race as almost everyone drove least known car.

Right after the start RRT.BlicKrig goes off the track, smashes the barrier and flips. He will do several more errors during race, but it doesn’t matter much because he will get disconnected on lap 10.

Frik mistakes a bit in the hairpin so RRT.VOLK passed him by, but then he mistakes too and frik takes the lead back.

RRT.VOLK and frik were fighting bumper to bumper for next 11 laps and suddenly frik spins out. RRT.VOLK definitely was so happy that when he finaly got an opportunity to overtake frik, he almost nearly spins and gets out of the track too! On the same lap frik yet again took 1st position back from RRT.VOLK.

On lap 12 frik goes too wide out of a fast turn, and loosing time in sand. RRT.VOLK was going right after so he passed frik imediately.

Frik spinned out on last lap and Ant moved up to 2nd (cheers, Canada)

Racer’s comments:

RRT.VOLK:
Not much to say here. I really enjoyed the batting frik, and I also pretty much enjoyed the GTT. It’s my first racing experience with this car and I think GTT is great when you treat it good. Also wanted to say that I’m a bit upset about the current situation in team standings.

AtomAnt:
Was a small field but nevertheless I still had fun. Tapped a wal once and got into the grass once, otherwise had n/p. Blickrig rolled it on the T1 right at the start, let me sneak past and I really never lost sight of the leaders. About lap 15 Frik looked like he might be having Turbo problems and I just stayed close and waited him out..and sure enough last lap of the race, he slid off and I scurried by to get my first taste of the Podium.
Thanks to Volk for Hosting,
Have a Great Day. I_ ANT.

frik:
Race was excellent, the truth I have admitted 2 serious mistakes and it costed to me of two positions. Thanks for race Volky and ANTy.

Race 4, City sprint (Division 2)

The race started smooth enough, there wasn’t any accidents in T1, just a small really soft contact bettween frik and RRT.VOLK who was going a bit wider than needed, which didn’t reflect on anything at all.

RRT.BlicKrig who won qualifying session makes an error in exit of the chicane. RRT.VOLK immediately passed him by and took the lead which he won’t lose till the last lap of the race.

Another pass in exit of the chicane - [dSRC]hackerx passed frik, and moved up to 3rd.

RRT.BlicKrig is loosing heaps of time there. He still didn’t recover from the mistake in the chicane, so [dSRC]hackerx passes him and becomes second. Right after him frik passed RRT.BlicKrig as well.

On lap2 [dSRC]hackerx mistakes in the chicane and frik passes him by, as RRT.BlicKrig who did it a moment later. Then Ant aproached [dSRC]hackerx and succefuly passed him by as well.

Accident on lap 3. Ant aproached frik and hitted him. That allowed [dSRC]hackerx to leave them both behind. But suddenly he spins out of the raceline and frik gets his 3rd position back. Because of that spin, [dSRC]nazzard who experienced a hard controller related problems got passed by his teammate. But then he let him go ahead on the straight.

[dSRC]nazzard is having a bad race for sure. On lap 9 he flips near South City video store and allows Ant to pass.

On lap 12 RRT.BlicKrig makes huge mistake in the hairpin so [dSRC]hackerx becomes second. RRT.BlicKrig does the same mistakes there almost every lap from now on. Gap between him and frik is decreasing and on lap 19 frik overtakes RRT.BlicKrig. However frik mistakes in the chikane and that results in a collision between him and RRT.BlicKrig. Ant passed them both by. Then RRT.BlicKrig recovers a bit faster than frik so he is 4th now.

On lap 21 small Ant’s mistake inside the chikane allowed RRT.BlicKrig to pass. By some reason Ant wasnt not rushing to get back to raceline, so frik overtakes him too.

On lap 26 lag took out frik. He lost a position and became 5th. Looks like that lag quite demoralized frik and he started to do mistakes and spins almost in every turn.

On last lap almost right in front of a finish line frik got disconected. But as everyone in front already finished and the gap beetwen him and [dSRC]nazzard was huge, he ramains 5th.

Racer’s comments:

[dSRC]hackerx:
First I almost missed this event, as I accidentally fell asleep some hours before race and woke up three minutes before official qualification start time. Luckily I made it to server in three minutes, and qualification was also warm-up for me. Race went nnnsurprisingly well, made only one bigger mistake myself (on lap 2 in chicane), and as other racers except volk were making quite a lot of mistakes, I ended up finishing on second place.

RRT.VOLK:
I’m totally happy with the results. In pre-qulifying list we could see that I hadn’t performed very well but during warmup session I seemed to find the rhythm. Also I must say that the results would look a bit different if [dSRC]nazzard wouldn’t have that controller failure. Anyway I tried to go as stable as possible from the first and to the last lap of the race and I succeded. Happy me ;)

AtomAnt:
I manage to get all the way up to 3rd by other peoples mistakes and then messed up on lap 21 going out of the chicane....reason I didn’t jump back onto the race line so fast was because I seen the other car (Frik I Think) coming through and didn’t want him to hit me. I would think that’s the right thing to do....about lap 4 I nailed someone who had spun out....again I could have swept over and hit hackerx but decided, why invovle an innocent so I just tried my best to go around and it didn’t work........better frame rates and i’m sure i would have seen him in enough time to avoid it. Great race though....Thanks.

Race 4, City sprint

In this event we tried to avoid problems with server perfomance and lagging by cutting grid into two divisions. Cutting was done quite right, and racers with approximately close perfomance were grouped, what could be clearly seen by qualification and race results.

Qualification went with domination of ocr.BiKES, who simply couldnt be stopped there. aero.Palich made a small miracle and snatched second place in his RB4 from remaining three FXO’s. RRT.DSerje was 3rd.

ocr.RudiTurbo almost missed event start and arrived when there were only three minutes of qualification left, but he managed to qualify succefully.

Race start went on predictable scenario, when aero.Palich jumped forward and made a lead. ocr.RudiTurbo and RRT.smith gained one position too. But, after RRT.DSerje’s mistake in chicane RRT.smith was overtaken by aero.detail.

After two laps of close pursuit ocr.BiKES became first and was never seen till finish by anyone except lapped racers.

On lap 5 aero.detail made mistake in T2 and allowed RRT.smith, who chased him with gap of around 1 second, to pass.

On lap 6 RRT.DSerje suddenly decides to abort his race.

ocr.RudiTurbo obviously had some problems, as in first half of race gap between him and RRT.smith was changing from 10 to 1.5 seconds, but after lap 15 he seemed to find his rhythm and began making pace, slowly catching aero.Palich. By lap 28 gap to aero.Palich was reduced to a mere 1 second, and after one lap ocr.RudiTurbo became second.

When there was two laps left, RRT.smith suddenly disconnects. But, taking in mind gap between him and next racer, he remained his place in finish protocol.

So this time congratulations are going to ocr.BiKES, ocr.RudiTurbo and aero.Palich, who formed a well-deserved podium in this tricky race!

Race results.

Racer’s comments:

RRT.smith:
Before race start I clearly realised that best I can get is 4th place, and I achieved that, despite that certain circuimstances clearly helped me a lot. Nothing more to say, I eagerily wait for next event to make revenge :)
